Halloween Dodgers

Spooky season is almost here, it's time to start preparing. How awesome are these halloween dodgers? These are the perfect halloween treat for you and your family to enjoy!

These are so easy to make, taste amazing and look great!

I love the dodgers with our nutella spread in the middle but the jam ones are perfect for halloween, you can tell your guests it's blood coming from the eyes and mouth of the pumpkin ect.

You could even put some extra in one of the eyes so it's spread over the top biscuit, this will help with the effect even more.

You can make whichever shapes you would like; I love the pumpkin, skull and coffin.

I got the idea to make these halloween dodgers when I made jammy dodgers for valentines day, I made them with hearts in the middle, they were so cute and so tasty!

This recipe is super easy to make, it's great for beginners, it's also a great recipe to let your children help with!

To make these halloween dodgers;

Make the dough and cut out equal amounts of each shape.

Move them to the baking tray and then cut out the eye, mouth, crosses ect from half of your biscuits.

I didn't move mine to the baking tray before cutting the shapes out, when I moved the biscuits they lots some of their shapes because they were so soft.

You could also roll the dough on baking parchment to make it easier to move it to the baking tray.

Make sure you have the right amount of biscuits with no faces ect, to match the ones you have cut the faces out from.

Spread the jam and/or the nutella from the middle of the biscuit out to the edges/ Don't go right to the edge though, otherwise when you put the biscuit on top it will all spill out the side.

Serve straight away or for the best consistency store in an airtight container for 24 hours.

Serve and Enjoy!

I hope you love these as much as I do!

Halloween Dodgers - Makes 18

Ingredients;

300g Butter - I used Flora but you can use any plant based butter.

90g Caster Sugar

1 tsp Vanilla Essence

225g Plain Flour

3 tbsp Jam

3 tbsp Nutella - Check out our recipe here

Method

Preheat the oven 160C and prepare 2 - 3 large baking trays.

Cream together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl, until smooth.

Add the vanilla essence and mix to combine.

Sift the flour in and mix to create a dough.

Roll the dough to roughly 1/2cm thick.

Cut your shapes; You want an equal amount of each shape. You can make any shapes you would like

Place on the baking tray then cut the faces, crosses ect out of half the shapes. This makes it easier to keep the correct shape. You can cut whatever faces ect you would like.

Bake for 15-20 minutes

Let cool completely before adding the filling.

Place the jam in a small bowl and mix to remove any lumps.

Spread the jam or nutella, on the biscuits without faces ect, from the middle of the

biscuit out to almost the edge of the biscuit.

Place the biscuit with a face ect on top of the spread, and press down gently.

Serve straight away or for the best consistency leave, in an airtight container, for 24 hours.

Enjoy!
